  • Excellent winter grip
  • Low rolling resistance
  • Comfortable in all conditions

Nokian W+ is a gently rolling non-studded winter tyre, designed especially for the mild but suddenly fluctuating winter conditions of Central Europe.

This versatile winter tyre has excellent grip on wet roads and in the event that you get surprised by snow and slush. With its balanced and stable driving properties, Nokian W+ functions safely and smoothly also on dry roads.

Hakasiping provides efficient grip

The advanced Hakasiping technology increases stability and ensures that the tyre’s properties remain excellent throughout its service life. The tyre, which provides accurate grip in all weather conditions, features a groove angle that is tailored to each size, efficiently removing slush and water from under the tyre.
Pleasant and quiet

Nokian W+ is a comfortable and environmentally friendly choice. Its pleasant driving comfort is complemented by the quiet driving noise of a modern non-studded winter tyre.

The new gently rolling tread pattern and the rubber compound, which has been optimised for Central European roads, can withstand significant wear. The tyre’s low rolling resistance translates into low fuel consumption and a reduced amount of carbon dioxide emissions.

EU Tyre Label and Efficiency Classes
EU Tyre Label and Efficiency Classes

The European Union has introduced the EU Tyre Label by Regulation (No. 1222/2009) identically and bindingly for all EU member states. It applies to passenger car tyres, light commercial vehicle tyres and heavy commercial vehicle tyres produced after 01.07.2012.

Three different areas are tested: rolling resistance, wet grip and the rolling noise the tyre makes on the road.

The following are not affected by the EU Tyre Label: retreaded tyres, professional off-road tyres, racing tyres, tyres with additional devices to improve traction such as spiked tyres, T-type emergency tyres, special tyres for fitting to vehicles first registered before 1 October 1990, tyres with a maximum authorised speed of 80 km/h, tyres for rims with a nominal diameter of 254 mm or less or 635 mm or more.

With this regulation, the European Union is pursuing the goal of promoting economic and ecological efficiency in road traffic as well as increasing road safety on the one hand, and on the other hand, granting consumers more product transparency and at the same time serving as an active decision-making aid.

Already during the incorporation, experts criticise the fact that the EU Tyre Label unfortunately only shows a few product characteristics. Apart from rolling resistance, wet grip and rolling noise, which are the main focus of EU tyre labelling, tyres have much more important and safety-relevant product characteristics, such as aquaplaning properties, driving stability, service life, braking properties on dry and wet roads, behaviour in wintry conditions, etc.

Tyre manufacturers point out that test results from various institutions and journals remain an important information medium for the end consumer. These tests usually focus on further safety-relevant product characteristics besides the EU standard qualifications for tyre labelling, which are always important for the final customer.

Previously had Nokian WR for four winter seasons and they were excellent. Last autumn bought W+ because they were on sale and significantly cheaper. Unfortunately, the difference is also significant. Grip in wet conditions on W+ is poor, and they just don't give you enough confidence for driving in winter conditions. Not that it should matter, tires have Made in Russia mark.

Very weak tire all around, I used it until their end of life (4 winter seasons, and one summer) because I paid a lot of money for them. In tests, they were quite well rated, but they were much worse than the previous Sava Eskimo S3 that I used for 4 seasons. I was very dissapointed by the change, and by Nokian in general.

This will be the tyres 4th winter and they still have 8mm of tread remaining. Each winter the tyres get even better. I much prefer them to the Megane's normal summer tyres (Michelin) because they are much quieter and give a smoother ride. In future, when I change my car, I will purchase Nokia tyres again. Highly recommended!
