Falken ZIEX ZE914A ECORUN 215/65 R17 99V AO, Ecorun BLK DOT2022

Summer Fuel Efficiency and Economy

The ZIEX ZE914 ECORUN is a hybrid vehicle tire with the cost saving fuel efficiency of a Low Rolling Resistance Compound, engineered with performance in mind. This tire features an asymmetric tread pattern with four straight wide circumferential grooves for hydroplane resistance along with a dual high rigidity rib construction, allowing good wet and dry braking stability. Slots and sipes can be found throughout the tire, optimized for even tread wear with a comfortable ride while providing additional traction. With a size list ranging from 15-inch to 18-inch and speed ratings of H, V and W, the ZE914 ECORUN is a great tire for enthusiasts looking to save at the pump.

ECORUN COMPOUND

Is engineered for optimal Low Rolling Resistance, meaning this tire is capable of traveling further distances using less fuel.

CHAMFERED CORNERS

Provide even wear performance.

FOUR WIDE CIRCUMFERENTIAL GROOVES

For hydroplane resistance and stability in wet conditions.

SHOULDER RIB RIGIDITY

Optimizes both wet and dry handling stability especially at high speeds.

EU Tyre Label and Efficiency Classes

The European Union has introduced the EU Tyre Label by Regulation (No. 1222/2009) identically and bindingly for all EU member states. It applies to passenger car tyres, light commercial vehicle tyres and heavy commercial vehicle tyres produced after 01.07.2012.

Three different areas are tested: rolling resistance, wet grip and the rolling noise the tyre makes on the road.

The following are not affected by the EU Tyre Label: retreaded tyres, professional off-road tyres, racing tyres, tyres with additional devices to improve traction such as spiked tyres, T-type emergency tyres, special tyres for fitting to vehicles first registered before 1 October 1990, tyres with a maximum authorised speed of 80 km/h, tyres for rims with a nominal diameter of 254 mm or less or 635 mm or more.

With this regulation, the European Union is pursuing the goal of promoting economic and ecological efficiency in road traffic as well as increasing road safety on the one hand, and on the other hand, granting consumers more product transparency and at the same time serving as an active decision-making aid.

Already during the incorporation, experts criticise the fact that the EU Tyre Label unfortunately only shows a few product characteristics. Apart from rolling resistance, wet grip and rolling noise, which are the main focus of EU tyre labelling, tyres have much more important and safety-relevant product characteristics, such as aquaplaning properties, driving stability, service life, braking properties on dry and wet roads, behaviour in wintry conditions, etc.

Tyre manufacturers point out that test results from various institutions and journals remain an important information medium for the end consumer. These tests usually focus on further safety-relevant product characteristics besides the EU standard qualifications for tyre labelling, which are always important for the final customer.

Very happy with the tyres - excellent grip in wet or dry conditions. Also wearing well and reasonably quiet.

20.12.2020 from Richard
Very good tyre, good in wet and dry. Responsive when given high demand.

16.12.2020 from Simon Thompson
I would not recommend these for any spirited driving. Comfort and noise are fine, but lack of grip in both dry and wet conditions.

This Falken tyre joined one we already had which was removed from the front axle when a pair of all weather tyres were fitted. The Falken pair have now replaced two top manufacture premium items that had completed 42,000 kms on the rear axle and were evenly worn. We have noticed no difference in performance, noise or economy across all of the star ratings mentioned and so would recommend them from our experience in a non drive rear axle fitment.
