Safety. And even more efficiency.

The ContiVanContact™ 100 - Efficiency and safety for daily use. The ContiVanContact 100 is an all-round talent that can not only easily cope with poor road surfaces and heavy loads, but which also offers a high mileage. Its specially reinforced carcass and sturdy sidewall, the stone-deflecting tread design, and the strong scuff protection strip on the sidewall make the tire a particularly robust load carrier. We have managed to reduce rolling resistance by 10% in comparison to the successful predecessor model – offering yet another advantage to transport companies who run Sprinters and similar vans and for whom speed and timeliness are the key in the distribution business. Continental has 14 sizes available with diameters ranging from 14 to 16 inches and load-bearing capacities up to a load index of 115 (1,215 kg per tire).

For transporters and vans. Efficiency and safety for daily use. Engineered in Germany, Continental offers premium tyres with optimum braking performance and safety. High level of efficiency thanks to higher mileage. Trusted by leading car manufacturers, including for example the vehicle models Fiat Ducato, Iveco Daily and Mercedes-Benz Sprinter.

Highlights:

High level of efficiency thanks to higher mileage
Improved durability on all roads and thus longer service life
High safety reserves for heavy loads

Technical details:

High level of efficiency thanks to higher mileage.
The partly silica compound used is particularly long-lasting. The flat contour of the tyre ensures a larger contact area with the ground, producing a higher wear volume. This results in greater efficiency due to the higher mileage capability of the tyre.

Improved durability on all roads and thus longer service life.
A durable tread pattern design and stone ejectors in the bottom of the groove prevent stones from becoming stuck in the grooves. The tyre is thus better protected against chipping and other damage. The robust 3D scuff rib on the sidewall protects against curb abrasion and increases the durability of the tyre.

High safety reserves for heavy loads.
The tyre is characterised by a robust carcass construction and reinforced sidewalls. It thus offers a particularly high load-carrying capability with a high level of driving stability.

EU Tyre Label and Efficiency Classes

The European Union has introduced the EU Tyre Label by Regulation (No. 1222/2009) identically and bindingly for all EU member states. It applies to passenger car tyres, light commercial vehicle tyres and heavy commercial vehicle tyres produced after 01.07.2012.

Three different areas are tested: rolling resistance, wet grip and the rolling noise the tyre makes on the road.

The following are not affected by the EU Tyre Label: retreaded tyres, professional off-road tyres, racing tyres, tyres with additional devices to improve traction such as spiked tyres, T-type emergency tyres, special tyres for fitting to vehicles first registered before 1 October 1990, tyres with a maximum authorised speed of 80 km/h, tyres for rims with a nominal diameter of 254 mm or less or 635 mm or more.

With this regulation, the European Union is pursuing the goal of promoting economic and ecological efficiency in road traffic as well as increasing road safety on the one hand, and on the other hand, granting consumers more product transparency and at the same time serving as an active decision-making aid.

Already during the incorporation, experts criticise the fact that the EU Tyre Label unfortunately only shows a few product characteristics. Apart from rolling resistance, wet grip and rolling noise, which are the main focus of EU tyre labelling, tyres have much more important and safety-relevant product characteristics, such as aquaplaning properties, driving stability, service life, braking properties on dry and wet roads, behaviour in wintry conditions, etc.

Tyre manufacturers point out that test results from various institutions and journals remain an important information medium for the end consumer. These tests usually focus on further safety-relevant product characteristics besides the EU standard qualifications for tyre labelling, which are always important for the final customer.
