Goodyear EfficientGrip

Introducing the EfficientGrip from Goodyear, the tyre choice for reduced fuel consumption without reducing other performances. It has the great handling and braking qualities you'd expect from a Goodyear tyre, while providing excellent mileage and reduced fuel consumption due to its outstanding rolling resistance. The new EfficientGrip with its FuelSaving Technology provides enhanced driving performance while also doing its bit for the environment - and at the same time, your wallet! The Goodyear EfficientGrip has been independently tested by the German Testing and Certification Company TÜV SÜD Automotive which measured the advantages* of EfficientGrip over 4 leading competitors.

Fuel-saving and environmentally friendly. Save on petrol and leave a smaller carbon footprint with the EfficientGrip, featuring FuelSaving Technology. Combining a lightweight structure with an advanced tread compound, the EfficientGrip needs less energy to make it roll. The result is lower fuel costs – and CO2 emissions – on every journey.

FuelSaving Technology

Eco-friendly performance The EfficientGrip tyre uses Goodyear's FuelSaving technology to help you reduce your carbon footprint on the road. The tyre uses less energy overall due to its light structure and specially designed silica tread compound, which means you can save on fuel – and do your part for the environment – all from the comfort of your car.

Smooth and comfortable Enjoy a smooth, comfortable ride on every journey thanks to EfficientGrip's block design, which cancels out excess noise for a more pleasant driving experience.

Durable and long lasting The EfficientGrip's tread is made with a tough silica compound that helps it work harder for longer, so you can get in more Eco-friendly performance The mileage before having to change the tyre.

Quick braking in wet conditions Even in the wettest of weather conditions, the specially designed tread on Goodyear's EfficientGrip keeps you firmly in control. With blades arranged to shed water, this tyre design offers much shorter braking distances than other, similar tyres.*

Long lasting. The EfficientGrip gives you more mileage between tyre changes. Its silica tread compound keeps the tyre working for longer, saving you money.

Better braking on wet roads. With a unique tread surface and a blade arrangement that sheds water, the EfficientGrip offers better wet performance and shorter braking distances than other tyres in its class.*

Quiet, comfortable ride. Enjoy comfortable journeys thanks to the noise-reducing block design.

EU Tyre Label and Efficiency Classes

The European Union has introduced the EU Tyre Label by Regulation (No. 1222/2009) identically and bindingly for all EU member states. It applies to passenger car tyres, light commercial vehicle tyres and heavy commercial vehicle tyres produced after 01.07.2012.

Three different areas are tested: rolling resistance, wet grip and the rolling noise the tyre makes on the road.

The following are not affected by the EU Tyre Label: retreaded tyres, professional off-road tyres, racing tyres, tyres with additional devices to improve traction such as spiked tyres, T-type emergency tyres, special tyres for fitting to vehicles first registered before 1 October 1990, tyres with a maximum authorised speed of 80 km/h, tyres for rims with a nominal diameter of 254 mm or less or 635 mm or more.

With this regulation, the European Union is pursuing the goal of promoting economic and ecological efficiency in road traffic as well as increasing road safety on the one hand, and on the other hand, granting consumers more product transparency and at the same time serving as an active decision-making aid.

Already during the incorporation, experts criticise the fact that the EU Tyre Label unfortunately only shows a few product characteristics. Apart from rolling resistance, wet grip and rolling noise, which are the main focus of EU tyre labelling, tyres have much more important and safety-relevant product characteristics, such as aquaplaning properties, driving stability, service life, braking properties on dry and wet roads, behaviour in wintry conditions, etc.

Tyre manufacturers point out that test results from various institutions and journals remain an important information medium for the end consumer. These tests usually focus on further safety-relevant product characteristics besides the EU standard qualifications for tyre labelling, which are always important for the final customer.

I have bought these tyres for many years now, putting them on 4 Subarus and a Golf TDI. They perform very well and their strengths fit the Scottish climate perfectly. I am able to recommend them strongly.

This is a benign tyre. It resists aquaplaning. It gives plenty of warning before it lets go. I don't drive fast - so press-on drivers may not like it; but I cannot fault it. I do switch to winter tyres, for three months of the year. (Scotland).

Purchased these tyres for my Citroen C6 - a relatively rare car. The great thing about a C6 is that it is very refined comfortable and quiet. The previous budget Nankang tyres were terrible - much too noisy. These are superb and ideally matched to the Citroens charachteristics. I have maked grip handling etc as 5 stars because I have no evidence that they are not, but I do not drive this car like a teenage lunatic.
